January is Cheska’s birthday month. This year she turns 10! How time flies… Now, I feel really old more than ever. Gosh, imagine how I would feel when she turns 16…
and that will be in 6 years. Ouch!
We celebrated her special day by inviting our friends for dinner. She had a lot of guests and everyone seem to have fun. The kids painted some plaster figurines before dinner. After hotdogs and pasta, some kids went to watch a movie in the home theatre room while others decided to play wii. The adults chit-chat for a while until somebody remembered to bring out an electric guitar and a mini-concert started.

Wow, January is almost over and I haven’t posted a single picture from all the events that we have attended during the Holidays. It was a very busy holiday for us with all the volunteer work I did at school, the Christmas shopping, parties among other things.
But on the bright side, the Ebio family visited and celebrated Christmas with us. It was great seeing them after 7 years. Thank you very much Gerald, Susie, Jed and Pia. We hope you had a great time on your stay here in TX. Hopefully, we can visit you soon too.
Our Christmas has been a blessed and happy one with good friends and loved ones, laughter and fun that will be cherished as long as we all can.
Happy New Year everyone! Better late than never…

Snow is a rare occurence in Southeast TX particularly in Houston area. They say it happens once in 5 years. True enough, since we got here in 2001, we have experienced snow twice so far. Once in 2004 (Christmas Eve-Christmas Day) and now again in 2009. Base on records though, we had snow last year but we didn’t get enough accumulation in our area that time.

Everyone has been buzzing about the snow since Wednesday. Kids and adults alike were excitedly waiting for it. And when it came on Friday around noon time, I guess almost everyone went out to check the snow and take pictures. In our street, almost everyone who was at home went out to take pictures of their houses with the roofs and yard covered in about an inch of snow.
The kids were dismissed early from school and they all had fun playing on the snow. It wasn’t enough to make snow angels nor was it easy to make snowman but it was still a treat for them.
Check out the photo gallery for the kids’ pictures.
